Glycerin
Glycerin is the best part of all soap with its moisturizing abilities for all skin types. Our healing soaps include Jewelweed Soap for poison ivy, Witch Hazel Soap, Goldenseal Soap, Aloe Vera Nettle Soap, Camphor Clary Sage Soap, Echinacea Sage Soap, and Calming Calamine Soap Our glycerin soap is molded into unique and intricate designs for perfect detail! The process of removing the glycerin from the soap is fairly complicated and of course, there are a lot of variations. In the most simplest terms, you make soap with fats and lye, and the fats already contain glycerin as part of their chemical makeup. Vegetable fats (all of our soaps are vegetable based soaps) contain from 7% to 13% glycerin. When fats and lye are blended together, soap is created and the glycerin is left out as a by-proudct, but while it is chemically separate, it is still blended in the soap mix. Some uses for glycerin include: conserving preservation of foods, herbal tinctures and other herbal preparations as well as a great addition to lotion bases. Handmade Soap contains the natural forming glycerin that is normally removed from other store bought soaps. In order to make a good hard handmade cold processed soap, the glycerin must be removed or the soap would be too soft. Companies may extract the glycerin through a variety of methods and then add a lower percentage back. ALL handmade cold process soap is glycerin soap.
Jewelweed is best known for its skin healing properties for poison ivy. The leaves and the juice from the stem of Jewelweed are used to cure poison ivy and other plant induced rashes.

Calamine is a preparation belonging to a class of medicines called the anti-pruritics, which are used to relieve itching. Itching can be caused by physical irritation or chemical changes in the skin caused by disease, allergy and inflammation.

Effective in arresting the itch caused by insect bites, and poison ivy outbreaks. Camphor oil numbs the peripheral sensory nerves and is mildly antiseptic. Clary sage oil treats skin irritation by acting as a drying agent and reducing swelling.

Goldenseal is a healer that attacks the bacteria, viruses and fungi that cause contagious illness and protects your skin. The chief active constituents include the alkaloids berberine, hydrastine, and canadine.
